Physicist. Engineer. Problem Solver.

I turn complex physical principles into real-world solutions — from computational modeling to experimental systems and automation. My background in atomic and molecular physics fuels a data-driven approach to engineering challenges.

Research & Technical Skills
Experimental Physics
  • Built and tuned external cavity diode lasers (ECDL) in Littrow configuration
  • Performed laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and saturated absorption spectroscopy (SAS) for atomic and molecular systems
  • Implemented laser frequency stabilization using Zeeman-modulated SAS and AC locking techniques
  • Designed and optimized double MOT systems for ⁸⁷Rb atom trapping and fluorescence analysis
  • Engineered magnetic coil transfer and TOP traps with water-cooled aluminum mounts
  • Conducted optical alignment, fiber coupling, and diagnostics for precision spectroscopy
  • Assembled vacuum systems, performed He leak testing, and calibrated pressure gauges
  • Taught and supervised Electronics and Optics laboratories, mentoring students in experimental techniques, data analysis, and safety
Computational Modeling, Automation & AI
  • Designed LabVIEW-based DAQ systems for automated data collection and feedback control
  • Developed PID and TEC temperature control circuits and GPIB-based instrument communication
  • Simulated molecular collisions (MOLSCAT, QCT) and BEC dynamics (GPE solvers)
  • Familiar with scientific programming languages (Fortran, Python, C, Java, MATLAB, Mathematica); skilled in modifying and troubleshooting existing research codes
  • Leveraged AI tools (ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Perplexity) for code optimization, data interpretation, and documentation — with the ability to critically evaluate AI outputs
  • Experienced in HPC workflows (Slurm scheduling, job parallelization, and performance tuning)
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Founder and President: Wesleyan Optica Student Chapter, initiating a new optics research and outreach community
  • Research Project Leader – Warrior-Scholar Project, mentoring U.S. veterans pursuing science careers
  • Mentor to undergraduate and master’s students in the AMO Physics group, supporting research and writing
  • Teaching Assistant for undergraduate labs in physics, electronics, and optics
  • Web Administrator – GSA, managing communication platforms and digital workflows
  • Senior Buddy – International Buddy Program, helping new international students adapt
  • Recognized for a collaborative and supportive leadership style combining technical expertise with mentorship
Digital & Communication Skills
  • Built and maintained WordPress websites, managing hosting, domain setup, and analytics
  • Created Sinhala-language educational and travel videos for the Ceylon Life platform, guiding students on foreign education opportunities
  • Skilled in technical writing, data visualization, and presentation design for conferences and outreach
  • Experienced in science communication, translating complex research for general audiences
